Letter to Parents

Dear Upward School Parents,

My name is Jenn Watson, and I am thrilled to be partnering with you for the education of your student. God has been amazing throughout this process and already the Upward Church and School family has been a tremendous blessing to my family and myself. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity.

I want to give you some background information about me as I am sure your excited to get to know me. My husband Reggie and I have been married for almost 17 years and we have 15-year-old cat named Sophie who firmly believes she is a human. We of course spoil her rotten! Up to this point God has not blessed us with children of our own, so my students are “our kids”. Reggie was the Math and Science teacher at Fletcher Academy from 2001- 2003, so we are both very familiar with your area and look forward to moving back. My parents have retired and will be joining us in NC as well. They are both very excited about the transition. Currently, Reggie is finishing up his degree in Accounting and should be finished by the time we start school in August. We look forward to being active participants in the Upward Church and School community.

As I look forward to the 2020-2021 school year I reflect on God’s purpose in our lives. I firmly believe that he is leading me to your school as he has a job for me to do there. Christ in the classroom is the forefront of all I do. I feel that it is so important for children to be active participants in all things related to Christian Citizenship including actively engaging in daily Bible study and sharing Jesus in both the school and church community as well as the public community that surrounds our church and school. I look forward to mentoring each of the students in this area.

As the school board mentioned, I have some very interesting work experience between the corporate world, social work, and teaching. All of these experiences have been of great value to me these past 4 years as a teacher. Two of the major things that I learned from working in these various fields is the importance of solid communication and quality customer service. I firmly believe that each of you are my customer and I want you to know that I am committed to communicating with you regularly because I recognize that each family has their own unique set of needs. I also believe that we need to partner closely in order to meet the needs of each individual learner. My habit right now is to communicate lesson plans and newsletters to caregivers on a weekly basis and be available to caregivers via email, phone, and text during after school office hours. I intend to continue this trend with you, however, I am open to adjusting this as needed to make sure your needs are being met.

If you have any questions, concerns, or you just need to chat, please feel free to reach out to me at jwatson@gccsda.com or 706-639-5926. Please don’t be alarmed if I am unable to answer as I am spending a lot of time with my current students, but I promise I will get back to you as soon as possible. I look forward to meeting each of you in person soon!

Blessings, Jenn Watson
